You wouldn't think... but listen
Wile E. Coyote

When I was 8 my mother called the Disney Store to confirm that the coyote's name in Looney Tunes was "Wile E." I didn't believe her. It seemed too outlandish. I thought he was the only character that didn't have a name (made sense to me since he didn't talk).

Celebrity Sightings
When I first moved to New York I wondered if I'd ever see a celebrity. Four years later, I walk past them, notice, tell my companion and keep walking to the subway. It's really not that great. Now what I wonder if I'll ever get to have dinner and deep conversation with one (preferably an intelligent one, like Sean Penn or Julia Roberts rather than, say, Miley Cyrus).
Here's a list of who I've seen and where (hopefully I can remember everybody):
Woody Allen - upper west side, in the 60s
Claire Danes - washington square park
Heather Graham - eating at Gemma on Bowery & 3rd
Cameron Diaz - at Gemma
Al Sharpton - crossing 57th street towards Columbus Circle/Time Warner Center
Lou Dobbs - Columbus Circle/Time Warner
Anderson Cooper - with male companion walking into Columbus Circle/Time Warner
Eric Bana - rollerblading in Central Park on the southern loop
Justin Long - holding a big laundry bag outside of Bowery Hotel/Gemma restaurant on Bowery & 3rd
Ben Foster (twice) - drinking coffee at Think Coffee on Bleecker and Bowery
Liev Schreiber - ordering coffee at Think Coffee on Bleecker and Bowery
Kiefer Sutherland - in the lobby of NYU's Third North dorm building
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. - speaking at NYU
Zach Braff - outside of Bowery Hotel
Blake Lively & Leighton Meester - dancing at the club Kiss and Fly in meatpacking district
Taye Diggs - at Gansevoort Hotel's underground G2 spa & lounge
Ashlee Simpson & Ken Paves - at Gansevoort Hotel's underground G2 spa & lounge
Mara Wilson (aka "Matilda") - at school (NYU)
Haley Joel Osment - at school (NYU)
Sean Connery - briefly walked by the window of the diner I was eating at somewhere in the upper east side
Tyra Banks - on multiple occasions while I was an intern on the Tyra Banks Show (along with that white-haired guy Jay)
Diane Lane - share a brief conversation back stage on the Tyra Banks Show
A couple of America's Next Top Model contestants... one was a boyish looking girl who I think was a lesbian and also an MTV host, another who was a tall dark-skinned short-haired beauty who I believe was one of the first to win.
Graydon Carter - at a CNN event
Iman - that young skinny model for Chanel
Jessica Simpson - on the red carpet at the VMA's
James Ford (aka "Sawyer" from "Lost") - at an outdoor restaurant in Florence (I guess it doesn't count since it's not NYC)
Adrien Brody - on Houston & Bowery, walking near Whole Foods
Katherine McPhee - on a float during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
Clint Eastwood - near the Plaza Hotel
Bridgit Moynahan - looking beautiful near Madison Square Garden/Flatiron Building
Robert Downey Jr. - standing outside of the New York Health & Raquet Club (or whatever) in Astor Place
Eva Longoria - at a San Antonio Spurs game (in San Antonio... so also doesn't count I suppose)
Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins - I had drinks with them at their house. Yep, watched basketball with them. She told me about the huge tattoo on her back. They got divorced shortly after.
Jeremy Irons - strolling down 2nd Ave and 22nd St. wearing a fedora
Rod Stewart - Having dinner with his wife at a small restaurant on the upper west side... like 60s or 70s.
Rachel Dratch - she's the ugly girl who was on SNL from 1999-2006. Saw her sipping Starbucks on 3rd Ave & St. Mark's.
Noah Emmerick - he's the guy from the Truman Show with red hair. You've seen him. I saw him two times. Once I was walking behind him on 3rd ave for a couple blocks while he talked to his brother about his dad and real estate or something. The other time I saw him with a small child in the Washington Square Park playground.
Mario Battali - Had the honor of having lunch with him and my NYU class at his restaurant Otto on 5th ave and 8th st.
Maggie Gyllenhaal - saw her eating at Otto during lunch with her baby in a stroller.
Molly Shannon - from SNL, having dinner with her husband and kids at Otto.
Blythe Danner (Gwyneth Paltrow's mom) - at Otto restaurant
Matt Dillon - having dinner at a dim sum joint down in Chinatown near Mott st.
Padma Lakshmi - at the International Emmy Awards with her then-hubby Salmon Rushdie (I was a volunteer at that event)
SHAQ - yup, saw him crossing the street in front of my cab going into a building near Times Square. He was enormous.
Hugh Jackman, Michael J. Fox, Kate Walsh (Grey's Anatomy), Daniel Craig - walking into our out of David Letterman
Ron Howard - at NYU dorm, Third North
Tony Benett - on 42nd and Madison
Heath Ledger's house hours after he died - does this count as something? It was a class assignment to report on the news. I know, NYU Journalism is wack.
Adrien Grenier - from Entourage, was at NYU
Will Smith - shooting I Am Legend at NYU
One of the Olsen sisters - but neither of the twins. There's more of them. Laura (Lauren?) goes to NYU and Paris Hilton's younger brother, Barron who also goes to NYU. Neither of these people are celebrities or important, so nevermind.
Okay so there are a lot more but already this list is making me want to vomit. How boring was this? How boring is my blog in general? Jesus. I feel like I used to "get it." I'd be blogging on-the-go all time time and now I'm really bored with the whole thing. And Twitter. And Facebook. Mostly because I don't feel like anybody's paying attention or reading my stuff. And I no longer feel like I have much to share... which is really bad. Which probably means I should change my life drastically before I become a nun. But now there's nothing to write about, nobody to listen or talk to on any of these channels anymore. (Except my parents, which is annoying. Stop it, Mom. I can feel you breathing.) It's become too mainstream. Twitter was cool when it was just Union Square and the East Village chatting with SF and Palo Alto. Facebook was the shit when it was only high school and college students sharing NSFW photos. And nobody called them NSFW back them because nobody fucking W'ed. Now shit's boring. Things can't be cool when Rick Sanchez, your uncle, and dogs are using it. Seriously.
Can we find something new?
On June 24th... It's Mine
I still have a banged up original iPhone, so you can imagine how amazing my leap will be. My speaker audio sucks, I can barely hear anything on a regular phone call either, it freezes a bunch, the battery doesn't even last half a day and the camera turns all static and purple randomly until I hit it out of a funk. Since it's so slow and doesn't have 3G I barely use it for internet. Only e-mail. Lame.
My first cell phone was a Nokia 6510 (I think) when I was 13. All I did with that was play snake and create ringtones of pop songs by pressing numbers and the star symbol. Then at 15 I had a Roxy Boost Nextel for a while. I loved it because it was branded by Roxy. And a lot of people in my high school used Nextel radio.
When I was 17 I had a lime green Motorola Pebl, probably the best phone ever. Nothing beats its durability and easy to handle flip cover. I could practically do everything with my eyes closed since the buttons had little bumps on them for navigation. All I had to do to call my favorite friends was hold down a certain pre-assigned number. (You can't even eat while using an iPhone. It's like a newborn - needs ALL your attention. Don't get it dirty, don't press the wrong thing on the screen, and certainly DON'T drop it!)
Finally, at 19 I got the first iPhone in Dec 2007 as a Christmas present. Now it's 2010... I'm 22... and it's SO definitely time to upgrade!!

Lolita
I just finished reading Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. I found it very hard to put down; read all 309 pages in four days. The greatest thing about reading this book is that I had absolutely no idea what it was about. I was not familiar with the term "lolita" at all. At first I was taken aback by the subject of the story but very soon thereafter I was sucked in to the story. I needed to know what would happen next.
I think the greatest thing about this book is the vivid detail. Nabokov writes in a way that is just perfect so you can really see what he is describing. Very much like a movie, but without the fake drama that some contemporary writers create (i.e. Dan Brown).
I would give this book 5 stars... but can only award 4 because of the disappointment I was faced with after reaching the end. I found it terribly anticlimactic. I had hoped for a wild twist, but instead was just handed a very normal, blase ending. And for that, I despise you Nabokov.
