"Alana Taylor: I Make Web 2.0 Mistakes So You Don't Have To"TM

In the event that you are trained to send photos to your blog and social networks through your mobile device... and you find that you accidentally sent the WRONG photo... here is what do:

1. Try to turn off your phone so that maybe the signal will not connect and the e-mail won't send. (Not very likely you will do this in time tho).

2. Delete your blog post immediately. This will most likely be the first one up. The good thing is that if you do it quickly enough you'll be safe because unless someone was refreshing your site at that EXACT moment... the photo will go unseen. And it definitely won't make it to the RSS feed which takes longer.

3. RUN to your Twitter account and PROTECT YOUR UPDATES! That way your post will not go to the main twitter stream and no one will see it (unless you allowed people to see your protected updates, but I don't think most people do this). Then... wait until the tweet is posted and immediately delete it.

4. Lastly, login to TwitPic and delete the photo that was posted. (Oh and copy the URL for the photo and paste it into search.twitter.com just to make sure that it wasn't floating around somewhere).

Then... just wait to see if anyone asks "what this crazy photo is all about".... and if nobody says anything, then you're in the clear!! :) SUCCESS

BUT if this happens to you and you're nowhere near a computer, then I am sorry to tell you that you're royally fucked.

So, yes people. Learn from my mistakes AND my WINS haha.

(BTW, yes this situation just happened to me but the photo in question is actually not that bad or anything. It was about a crazy joke that I have going on with my friend and it's not the kind of thing everyone would find humorous so that's why I freaked out. I just am so used to making my emails go straight to my blog and twitter that I completely forgot to change the TO address. Oops.)

It's okay... just like I learned not to drunk Tweet I will learn not to mass crazy-photo blog. God, you guys are so lucky I am this honest. One day my children will ask me: "Mommy, what is drunk tweet?"

Thanks. Over and out.
